Mayfest is one of our very favorite events, but with the invasion of COVID-19, it simply couldn’t happen at the regularly scheduled time. However, we are thrilled to say that Mayfest will be happening July 31—August 1 of this year at Tom Byrne Park!
Mayfest: Optimism in the Face of Setbacks
Executive Director of the Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce, Emily Wilson, said: “The Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce, who proudly coordinates the event each year, is looking forward to putting on the festival and we are confident it will be a wonderful time of celebration and tradition. This year’s festival will proceed with all aspects previously planned for Mayfest including Miss Mayfest, the Mayfest Softball Tournament, and the Beautiful Baby Contest.”
The Chamber feels optimistic that this year’s Mayfest will be just as fun as ever, in spite of the fact that it will be happening later in the year due to the pandemic.
More About Mayfest
Mayfest is an annual event here in Atmore, and it offers something for everyone: yummy food, fun arts and crafts, and plenty of live entertainment! Kids will be occupied all day by the exciting rides, rock climbing walls, William’s Station train ride, pony rides, games, face painting, and so much more.
Arguably the highlight of this event is the Beautiful Baby Contest, in which proud parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. can enter their baby to win the honor of Mayfest Beautiful Baby. Eligible age categories for the contest for boys and girls respectively are: three months to under one year; one-year-olds; two-year-olds; three-year-olds. The winner of each category will receive a certificate and gift basket. Other contests will include Miss Mayfest and the Mayfest Softball Tournament.
We hope to see you there!
