For a relatively small town, with a population of just north of 8,000 people, the Atmore area features high-quality healthcare facilities that would be prized almost anywhere. The City of Atmore is home to both Atmore Community Hospital and Atmore Nursing Center and The Summit Of Atmore Retirement and Assisted Living Facility. As one might surmise, we're proud of the extensive healthcare facilities we have close to home to care for our citizens.
Atmore Community Hospital
Atmore Community Hospital (an affiliate of Infirmary Health, Mobile, Alabama) offers full-service acute care in a two-story, 49-bed facility. Atmore Community Hospital is governed by the Atmore Community Hospital Board, which is part of the larger Escambia County Healthcare Authority. The hospital has been a part of the community for more than 60 years. Thanks to a highly trained and experienced staff of doctors and support personnel, patients receive the best treatment available. Specialized care includes an intensive care unit, three physician clinics, and home health care services. Well-equipped to handle almost any medical situation, major regional medical centers are less than an hour away by land or helicopter.
The state-of-the-art Outpatient Clinic provides convenient access to specialty physicians. Many services and procedures that once required out-of-town travel are now available at Atmore Community Hospital. They work with doctors to provide medical services not requiring in-patient stays and assist specialty clinic doctors by administering select infusions (blood products, IV fluids, and IV iron). However, procedures must be accompanied by doctors' orders and signed by the doctor on staff to receive treatment.
The hospital's auditorium (which offers seating for 100+) provides modern facilities for use by both staff and community organizations for a variety of purposes. The hospital has an active auxiliary that operates the gift shop, delivers meals to patients, and serves as hostesses in the surgery waiting room.
Atmore Nursing Center
The Atmore Nursing Center is a 100-bed skilled nursing facility offering 24-hour nursing services in a home-like environment. The staff is committed to excellence, so each resident receives the best care possible. Whether your physical rehab or care need is short-term or long-term, you'll find an atmosphere that is friendly and private, with the professional caregivers and services you need.
On-site licensed physical, speech, and occupational therapists provide a course of rehabilitative treatment carefully designed to meet a resident's particular needs. Atmore Nursing Care Center is an active member of the American Health Care Association and the Alabama Nursing Home Association.
Assisted Living in Atmore
The Summit, an assisted living facility, offers quality care for seniors in a nurturing and home-like setting, close to nearby medical facilities.
