Police Department

About Us

Police Chief Chuck Brooks has the honor of leading the dedicated men and women of the Atmore Police Department, a department that strives to serve Atmore in the best way possible. Our mission is more than just to serve and protect: it is to make Atmore one of the safest communities in Alabama.

Located in the City Hall Complex, the Atmore Police Department is organized by the police chief's office, our dispatch center, an investigations group, a special task force against illegal drug use, and support personnel. Our police department proudly serves a population of more than 8,000 residents.

You can learn more about our mission and values below. You will also find details about the city jail, including visiting hours and contact information.

Our Mission Is to Serve and Protect

We are a part of this community. We are not just police officers and investigators. We are family members. Fathers. Mothers. Brothers. Sisters. We live here too. And we want all places within our community to be as safe and orderly as possible for all of the people we love to serve.

Chief Brooks reviews all of the location calls we make as a department. We want to keep Atmore a wonderful place to have a family, go to work, and operate a business. And we know that we can only achieve this goal through a positive relationship between our department and the community. So our officers understand that the confidence of the public is earned through honesty, objectivity, and professional courtesy. We strive to protect all citizens by holding our officers to the highest ethical standards possible. We don't just protect the rights of some people but strive to serve all people equally and with mutual respect.

Our chief, patrol officers, task force members, investigators, and support personnel vow to protect the lives and property of our citizens by preventing crime and maintaining order in our community. In doing so, we promise to enforce all local, state, and federal laws in order to protect the constitutional rights of all. We want visitors to feel welcome here.

Our Values

We believe that with cooperation and teamwork we can identify and solve community problems. We know that training and professional behavior are key to achieving excellence. So we strive to be accountable to the community we serve and know that respect is a two-way street. Trust must be earned and not merely given. We fully support and defend the Constitution of the United States. And most of all, we value human life and the dignity of our citizens.
